CHUY DAH Feb. 2008

It’s February now, and that means that St. Valentine’s Day is not that far off. So men, stock up on chocolate, find your best poetry and get ready to duck when the furniture starts flying…ah, Klingon mating, you gotta love it…the only kind of romance where “safe sex” means that both parties can walk under their own power…

Okay, first of all, a reminder that tomorrow is the February General meeting at Uncommon Grounds. Last month, a tentative 6-month calendar of events was created:

February — General Meeting
March — Renovare Cafe Writers Circle Swap Meet (I’ll explain this in more detail at the meeting)
April — Movie Night (my place)
May — 2008 Doomslayer Invitational at New Towne Mall
June — General Meeting
July — Doomslayer Picnic at Tuscora Park (and possible Doomslayer Invitational II)

Keith R.A. DeCandido has immortalized our Fearless Leader and the Camp Dover Peace Conference in print — not only is the Chancellor used as a reference character, but the Conference is one of two cons singled out for acknowledgement in his latest novel, “A Burning House”, the latest in the ongoing saga of the IKS Gorkon. I just finished reading this novel, and I have to say that if you’ve been hungry for good Klingon reading, this will cure your cravings.

The story of the Gorkon continues as the ship comes home to Qo’Nos, and go their separate ways on leave. We also find out what happened to characters from a NextGen episode and DS9 episode as well…(I’d tell you, but why spoil the book?)a pleasant surprise that is very well-tied into the overall story.
For a rating, I’ll give it..oh, let’s say 5 batleths!

Just a little bit of history repeating

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, there was a newsletter that many people in Klingon fandom read, and it was called CHuY DaH.

Times changed, and ChuY DaH became an exclusive newsletter - mainly because postal rates and copying costs made it hard to distribute.

But now times have changed…and so has technology…

And now CHuY DaH stands ready once more to be read by all (as long as you subscribe, that is...).
